Las Vegas COVID Cases Rising Again

If you are following the news, you might be aware that despite the fact we are all hopeful about the COVID-19 pandemic coming to an end as more and more people get vaccines, the truth is that right now, cases are rising again in Las Vegas and throughout the country. A fourth wave has been predicted, and the vaccines being given today will not be able to prevent cases tomorrow or next week.

Most COVID vaccines require two doses, four weeks apart, to provide adequate protection from the virus. Maximum immunity is believed to be achieved two weeks after patients receive their second dose. At this time, it is believed their immunity level is about 90%.

However, it is possible to contract COVID-19 in between the time you receive your first and second doses, and this has, in fact, happened to many people. For that reason, the doctors and nurses at Body and Mind Health Partners want you to remain vigilant during this time, wearing a mask, staying 6 feet away from others and washing your hands frequently.

COVID-19 Remains a Threat

This is the worst time to let your guard down. Those who have been careful this past year have avoided contracting the coronavirus, but they have suffered in other ways. They have missed holidays and birthdays with family and friends, they may have missed being present for births and deaths, and suffered great loneliness and isolation as the days and weeks stretched into months of solitude.

The last thing you want is for all this suffering to be for naught, and to get tired, slip up, engage in risky behavior and find yourself in the hospital, fighting the coronavirus. We know you miss eating out and seeing your friends, but we want to strongly remind you that it is likely only a matter of days or weeks before you receive your vaccines and their resultant protections.
